The Importance Of HIV Organizations NYC

By Susan Graham

There are many bodies that are engaged in global response to diseases that are becoming more deadly to human health. This has called for worldwide awareness on how to curb and prevent them. A good example of such diseases is the HIV and AIDs. HIV organizations Nyc have been set up to help address the issues that affect people living with the virus. Through National AIDs control programmes, International development agencies, government, and nongovernmental organizations have devoted time, resources and energy to developing low-cost measures to intervene and arrest the spread of the virus. There several strategies that have been put in place to prevent the spread of the disease.

One of their roles is to prevent the spread of this epidemic. Through social awareness and education on sex, most people get to learn on various methods of protecting themselves against infection. Use of condoms and sterilized instruments minimize chances of acquiring the virus. Also, the youths are made aware of the negatives health effects of drugs and a drug addiction which might expose them to early and irresponsible sexual behaviors.

Many Health agencies organize for awareness and campaigns on the mitigation measures that should be taken to prevent infection and spread of the disease. The creation of world AIDs day has formed part of the campaign. During this day, people are educated on the measure they should undertake if they have been infected already and affected in another way. The government and other Health partners through such forums, warn people about the risks that are associated with the disease.

Social isolation and stigmatization have greatly affected most families with relatives who are victims of HIV in the society, as most people do not want to associate or be associated with people living with the virus. This has forced health organizations to establish guiding and counseling centers in health facilities and other places that are easily accessible to the victims.

Traditional practices like Male circumcision have been encouraged because it is believed that it reduces the faster spread of the virus. These organizations have supported the practice by facilitating the health workers to offer their services during the exercise at a lower value.

Since most of these organizations have no enough time to participate in campaigns, awareness, rallies and seminars, conferences on HIV/ AIDs, they provide sufficient funding on the same to make sure that it is done on time and to the right people.

Also, these organizations have administered the use of emergency medical response methods like use of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) which protects individual against HIV through an accident or women who have been raped. Although it has not been proved to prevent the transmission of the virus it suggested it minimizes the chance of contracting the disease if administered on time.

Population plays a vital role in the economic growth of a country. Population provides sufficient labor which impacts positively on the countrys gross domestic product. To maintain this, health organizations make sure that infected mothers are advised not to breastfeed the infants to prevent infections which eventually could affect their health to reduce infant mortality. This is done by providing them with artificial milk free of charge.
