Flight medical units have really helped out some seriously tricky situations, when people get injured or succumb to some ailments in place where road transportation is virtually impossible the units can airlift the patients to the hospital. The injuries could be fatal thus a fast way of getting the patients to the hospital is very essential if the lives of the patients are to be saved. In order to override all the possible hindrances that nature has to offer a fixed wing air ambulance designed in every aspect to be able to withstand the challenges without much difficulty.

Normal aircraft are the ones that are customized to make the medical flight units with intensive care units fitted, initially the flight units were exclusively made from helicopters but they are slowly being adopted in many other types. Whether government or privately owned the units are always ready to attend to any situation that arises.

Private corporate companies are turning their jets in to mobile medical units, these move is due to the reliability and comfort that the jets offer. These aircraft are fast and flexible meaning they are able to conquer and weather and get the patient to a medical facility fast enough.

In areas that experience adverse climatic changes, these units are the most suited. Winter can be very hectic but since they are least affected by the weather getting the medical attention to injured and sick people is achieved.

The flight units are fitted with general medical equipments such as: CPRs, ECGs, ventilators and monitoring units, these units are used to stabilize the patient while on route to a medical facility. The medical units are also designed differently, some of them attend to patients having heart attacks while others attend to patients from accident scenes thus they need to be able to attend to the patients differently. The specialized equipment can be set aside in case there is a calamity that needs attention as soon as possible. Balancing the aircraft is very essential when undertaking these specialized missions; the equipments are designed to put the least weight to the unit to avoid any accidents.

In addition to the required medical equipments the flight units are staffed with trained attendants who monitor the progress of the patient, they also help stabilize the patient from the moment they are loaded to the unit all the way to hospital. These crews have both medical and flight training so as to offer the best care to the patient in both aspects.

Working around the clock these flight units are the only units that are allowed to work across borders regardless of the relationship between the two countries and offer medical care. They can be contacted at any time of the day or night all week long.

The job that the flight units have done is spectacular; they give first aid before getting the patients to the hospital just in time to save the lives. What other transport systems can not over come these units override it with a lot of ease and composer that is required to save lives.
